Xiaomi launches Mi Rainbow batteries to take on ‘boring’ Pencil Cells
Xiaomi has added yet another product in their accessories portfolio and this time around it is a ‘pencil battery'! The Chinese OEM has been launching some out of the box products including Laptop Bags, Smart Shoes, and Weighing Scales etc. in their home country for quite some time now and the Mi Rainbow 5AA batteries are no exception.
But the next probable question in your inquisitive mind would be - Is it smart? Sadly, it isn't. However Xiaomi claims to revolutionize the ‘standard' boring pencil batteries by simply making them funkier.

The Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries comes in a range of 10 colours, however we aren't quite sure why Xiaomi called it ‘Rainbow' as it contains only 7 colours! Nevertheless the company claims to have used high quality carbon rods on the inside to improve the durability of the batteries. In fact the carbon rods have been manufactured by Japan's Maxwell and sourced from ZMI, who are in turn the manufacturer of many a Mi Powerbanks.
Xiaomi claim that the battery can last as long as 7 years from the date of manufacture. The company's claims however ‘can' be believed upon considering the fact that the Mi Powerbanks were among the best on-go battery charges available.
The Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries come in a set of ten, which is further enclosed in a plastic box to aid in use during travel. The pack of 10 batteries have priced at 9.9 Yuan which is equivalent to Rs 100. This is very similar to the price tag of the ‘boring red' Eveready batteries present in our market.

Nevertheless it is expected that the Mi Rainbow 5 AA batteries would be pretty much restricted to Xiaomi's homeland just like its other ‘out of the box' siblings.
