Microsoft has announced that its latest Windows 10 operating system is coming later this year with some truly surprising changes and improvements over the earlier version of Windows OS. The operating system is currently available as a preview, which means it will continue to develop till the final release. Here are the 5 important things to know about Microsoft's latest OS.
Windows 10 Availability and Price
Microsoft confirms that it will upgrade Windows 10 operating system to millions of consumers who are running Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. While the operating system is expected to cost $119 for the basic home user package for those who are not running the above mentioned version of Windows.
The Windows 10 is available in many editions including Home, Mobile, Pro, Enterprise, Mobile Enterprise and Education.
The company also shared the availability of Windows 10 in its official blog. The latest OS will be available for free download from July 29.
Windows 10 Compatibility
Microsoft has released an application called 'Get Windows 10', which automatically install itself PC running Windows 8.1 OS. For those who are running Windows 7 it is offered at recommended download in Windows Update.
The application will check the PC to see if it can handle the upgrade of Windows 10 and also highlights any potential issues.
However, the minimum requirements have been listed by Microsoft on its website. To upgrade to the latest OS, the PC should be running either Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 update. On the other hand, the computer/laptop or mobile should be powered by minimum 1GHz or faster processor, 1GB RAM and 16GB disk space for 32 bit OS and 2GB with 20GB disk space for 64 bit OS.
How to Download
Users running the last two release of Windows are able to reserve a copy of Windows 10 operating system from their computer. Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 running device will get a small Windows icon in the taskbar. The icon will take you to a menu for reserving a copy for download.

In addition to the Office 2016 full featured desktop suite, Windows 10 users will be able to experience new universal Windows application for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The universal Windows app is touch-friendly across all range of devices including touch-PC, laptop, tablets and smartphone.
