Facebook Messenger for Android to Get Updated with New Design and Features
Facebook's messaging feature started as a desktop chat experience and now the company has turned it into an application that is popular among smartphone users throughout the world. Thus realizing that people using the app wants something faster, Facebook has announced to update the app for Android.
According to the blog post, Facebook says that starting today, the company will be testing a new update to Messenger on Android devices. The update is targeted to make the mobile-to-mobile messaging experience faster and more reliable.
Take a look at the new features of the app:
The update will bring a completely new design with new tabs for conversations, people and settings and new features. You'll know which friends are using the app if you see the Messenger icon next to their names. If you see the Messenger icon, that means your friend is also using the mobile Messenger app, and will get notified instantly about your message.
Now users will also be allowed to contact people who aren't their friends on Facebook using the app. They just need a contact's phone number to begin texting others using Messenger. To help people reach you, you'll be asked to confirm your phone number.
With a fresh, new look, Messenger will be lot easier to get around. Users can now Tap across the top of the app or swipe left and right to see recent conversations, a list of the people you message, and settings.
Facebook Messenger for Android got updated with support for Stickers back in April now the company has thought again to update it. Facebook has already stated that they would be starting the testing phase of the new update with select people using Messenger for Android starting today.
When it comes to the app update for the iOS devices, it is not mentioned so far.
