Microsoft Promises Free Windows 10 Upgrade For Win 7/8.1 users
In a launch event of Microsoft Windows 10, the company just announced some very good news for those of you who are running an older version of its desktop OS such as Windows 8.1, or even Windows 7.
Namely, the Richmond software giant has revealed that for one year after the official launch of Windows 10, user will be able to upgrade to the new version for free.

This move made by Microsft is clearly to entice as many users as possible to make the jump to Windows 10 as soon as possible after it gets released. Microsoft is hoping to have some very nice sales numbers for the new OS a few months in as win 8.1 did not reach those numbers. It is, however, following Apple's methods, which has mastered free desktop OS upgrades.

It is also working on an update to Windows 10 for Windows RT, its Windows 8 variation for ARM-based devices, but has yet to share more details on that.
Free upgrades for Windows Phone 8.1 was mentioned too, but once again without much information. It's clear that the company wants as many mobile devices to get the new software as possible, but it remains a mystery till now, whether all win 8.1 handsets will actually receive the update to Windows 10 upgrade or not?
