NVIDIA Unveils Tegra 4i Processor With Native LTE Support
The flagship Tegra4 processor from NVidia gets a new successor - the Tegra 4i. The main highlight of the Tegra 4i is that it comes integrated with LTE chip. Apparently, NVidia's is planning to enter the LTE game sector with its new processor. Claiming to be the highest performing single chip smartphone CPU, the NVidia Tegra 4i packs the most powerful Graphics processing unit in its price range.
In addition to this, the new processor also includes all the camera and video functionalities of its predecessor. The ARM R4 A9 quad core processor in the SoC runs at a clock speed of 2.3 GHz. The new R4 A9 chip in the Tegra 4i was designed to give increased performance of about 15-30%, than all the other A9 processors. When it comes to size, the Tegra 4i is comparatively smaller than other quad core LTE integrated processors.
However, it was speculated that the raw power of this processor will likely drain the phone's battery faster. As a reply, NVidia reportedly integrated an extra battery saver core in the SoC. NVidia also promises that the Tegra 4i offers better battery efficiency than its predecessors. Gaming buffs can access the NVidia's Tegra Zone gaming with the Tegra 4i, which is also compatible with full HD displays of tablets and handsets.
The Computational photography technology which NVidia introduced in the last CES is another feature of the processor, which enables always-on HDR, instant HDR snaps, HDR video, HDR panorama mode and movement tracking feature in the camera technology of the Tegra 4i. The Tegra 4i powered devices will be out by the end of the year.
