Sony 'Background defocus' App Launched For Xperia Smartphones [Download]
Just a couple of days ago Google announced its latest camera app for non-Nexus devices. The camera app came with multiple features like background blur and others. Now Sony has launched a similar app called the Background Defocus for a range of Xperia handset models. The app is free for download via Google Play store.
Getting DSLR-like effects in the images shot from smartphone's camera have become like a burning topic these days. Samsung, Nokia, HTC and even Google has been using the feature for quite some time now. Now Sony has also joined the bandwagon.
The app comes with a feature like Google Camera app but unlike the Google Camera app, this app doesn't require you to move the phone while taking the photo. This means that there is no fancy 3D depth mapping, but simply a few shots with different apertures to detect what area needs blurring.

As said earlier, the app is currently only available for few Xperia range of phones and other mobile brands users might have to wait for a while. However, they at least have the chance of using the Google Camera app until Sony makes the Background Defocus app compatible with other devices.
The app is very simple to use, you can head on to the camera app and select Background Defocus as camera mode> Tap the object you want to focus on in the viewfinder> Tap the camera key to take a photo> Change the blur level and blur effect with the controls on the screen> Tap the save button, and that's it.
If you have any of the Xperia smartphones, you can try downloading the app from here. The app requires Android 4.2 and later version of OS.
