Viber App For WP8 Handsets Updated with New UI and HD Audio Support

Free apps are just the best! Popular VoIP app, Viber which allows users to make call, send text and photos for free, has been updated for Windows Phone 8 handsets.

The new app version Viber 2.23.0.0 for WP8 bring in a revamped UI along with some cool new features including HD sound audio for calls and lock screen notifications.

How Viber Works?

For those who are not aware, Viber uses existing phone number as user ID, just like Whatsapp and automatically detects which of your existing contacts is already using Viber

Further, reportedly, Viber uses Windows Phone 8's new VoIP APIs, so that like Microsoft's Skype preview app, voice calling is fully integrated into the platform. In practise what this means Viber can run in the background and that incoming and outgoing calls use the same UI experience as calls made over the cellular network.

However, now the app will lets users to pin conversations to Live Tile and support up to 40 people for group conversations. Viber, with its new features and add-free environment, might turn out to become a worthy adversary to Skype.
