WhatsApp hits 700 million users, adds 100 million in 4 months

WhatsApp messenger the world famous social messaging app is continuing to multiply its user base and now the popular messenger has a record of 700 million active users. This numbers is growing and has increased by 250 million since February 2014, after Facebook had announced its plans to take over WhatsApp for a tag of $19 billion.

A report said that WhatsApp had 600 million users in August, which tells us that the service has added more than 100 million active users in a time span of four months. The popular mobile messenger is now receiving over 30 billion messages everyday.

"Today, we're thrilled to share that WhatsApp has more than 700 million monthly active users. Additionally, every day our users now send over 30 billion messages. " Stated WhatsApp CEO, Jan Koum in a Facebook post.

To give you a clear comparision list Facebook Messenger has 500 million users while Instagram has 300 million, Twitter has 284 million users. Facebook still retains its name by being the largest social network with 1.35 billion active users. WhatsApp is now gearing up to add voice calling features to its service this year. Screenshots of the features have been leaked many a times in the last year suggesting the update will be rolled soon.
