Yahoo is visibly diverting it's attention towards apps for the mobile platform. Yesterday (April 18) The company announced Yahoo! Weather app for iPhone. The app does look great, giving detailed weather information and forecasts along with high definition images to match the weather conditions. The images are gathered from user uploads on http://www.flickr.com/projectweather.
Swiping vertically gives you more detailed weather information, while swiping horizontally gives you information on your favorite locations. Weather app team lead, Marco Wirasinghe told The Verge that push notifications for impending rain and snow will be included in a future update. For now you can download the app for iPhone and iPad on iTunes app store for. The app was also released for Android back in march. You can download android version of the app on Google play store.
Yahoo has also released it's mail app for tablets which focuses on providing a better reading experience. The app offers full screen Reading mode, which allows you to Email in full screen, with a tap of a button. You can flip through emails like a magzine.
The app introduces the New "Starred" folder, which can be used to read important messages, conveniently. The apps also comes with New swipe gestures and checkbox options to enable users to easily mark messages for archiving or deletion. Also you you will now be able to switch user accounts through the sidebar menu. The update builds on the redesigned apps that were launched in December for Android and iOS.
