Microsoft introduced Cortana on a Windows 10 PC at the company's recent live event in Redmond. Answer to iPhone's Siri, Microsoft Cortana will be a integral part of Windows 10, which is integrated into every imaginable part of the upcoming operating system.
While the virtual assistant available on the bottom left corner of the screen next to the Start menu, it can be activated by saying "Hey Cortana". Microsoft's Cortana is powered by Bing and it can search your hard-drive, calendar for appointments, contacts in order to better interact with user.

The name Cortana comes from an character of a same name from an Xbox exclusive game series "Halo". Jen Taylor, who voiced the game character, did the voice for Cortana !
Life
Circular Orb on the screen, represents Cortana's pulse. To let the users know what she is doing, it will spin, rotate and changes shades, which represents working, thinking and speaking.
Character

If you don't wish to give her a voice command, you can also type to her. You'll find an empty text field in the bottom, where you can type anything you want and Cortana will respond in text as well.

Now in Windows 10, Project Spartan, the next generation web browser will have the company's Cortana voice assistant built in, to assist with Web search functions. And generally, it has reminders built-in, such as location based reminders, person based reminders.
