Angry Birds, the most downloaded app
The Angry Birds application developed by Rovio has reached all the mobile platforms, recently even to Blackberry. This is now become the most downloaded application in the Amazon AppStore, Apple AppStore, Android Market, BlackBerry AppWorld, Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and Ovi Store.
The game app has broke the records set by the social networking app, Facebook and the VoiP calling application Skype. Distimo, an AppStore analyzt takes the credit of this ranking and the company keeps of track of the apps and offers the analytics of the worldwide app stores.
Distimo claims that they have matched the apps of various platforms together and also the free and the paid versions of each app together for the analysis. When matching all the paid and free downloads, the Angry Birds app accounted to be the most downloaded app of the year 2011.
The game has become too popular among the consumers that the app's three different versions have made their way to the top ten apps of 2011. Rovio announced in November that the Angry Birds app has achieved about 500 million downloads over the different platforms.
In November Rovio announced that its Angry Birds games had been downloaded a total of 500 million times across various platforms. It has appeared as the top most in the top ten paid apps for iPhone in 2011 and this was followed by the gaming apps like the Fruit Ninja, the Angry Birds Seasons, then by Cut the Rope, Tiny Wings and then by Angry Birds Rio.
Leaving the gaming apps aside, the social networking app, Facebook was highly popular when it comes to the free iPhone apps but then the Angry Birds, Twitter and Skype have now made their way to the list.
Some of the additional apps that have made their way into the top ten apps list of 2011 as per Distimo are Google Maps, iBooks which is the digital book reading app of Apple, Fruit Ninja game and the Talking Tom Cat which is an interactive animated cat that will record and repeat what you say.
