Ahead of the anticipated release of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Cupertino-based will release the iOS 8 update today. Apple fans in India can start downloading the update after 10:30pm IST.
If you own an iOS compatible device that doesn't mean it's compatible with iOS 8. As Apple announced in June, the new version of iOS is compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad mini with Retina display.

The newly announced iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus come with iOS 8 preinstalled. Unfortunately, the iPhone 4 doesn't support the iOS 8 update.
Users can download the update directly on your iOS device or through iTunes. To update from your iOS device, you need to go to Settings > Software update. In iTunes, go iTunes >Check for updates and follow the instructions.

Keyboard changes
Apple says iOS 8 brings the biggest changes to the system's keyboard since the iPhone was introduced, back in 2007. All this means that Apple will allow third-party typing applications, so tools like Swype, a popular typing application on Android, will arrive soon on iOS 8.
Notably, Apple has also made its QuickType keyboard more personalized in nature. Now, the keyboard will predict the next word you want to type based on what you've written in the past or how you communicate.
Photos
iOS now has a new photo editing apps. Now you can store more photos in the cloud, all thanks to the new iCloud Drive integration. You can edit Photos with the help of better-than-ever Smart Editing features. At the same time, a user can purchase extra iCoud Drive storage, depending upon the usage.
Family Sharing
Family Sharing is new feature that will let up add up to six members of a family share iTunes purchases across devices, as long as each account is linked to the same credit card. At the same time, the app will allow parents to keep a track on their childrens' purchase. Family Sharing also automatically creates a family photo album, letting anyone on the plan share to it.
Siri
Siri now has Shazam song recognition service, and lets you purchase content from iTunes with your voice, and recognize up to 22 languages.
iCloud Drive and Messages App
Apple has made iCoud Drive integrated into iOS 8. This simply means , you can view your content or open documents from one app inside another compatible app. Moreover, one can also able to access data from your Mac that have been saved and synced through iCloud.
The updated app will allow you to add audio as well as video messages. You can also share your current location, name the threads, add and remove participants, set personalized Do Not Disturbs, and leave threads.
