Apple iTunes App Store Hits 1 million Approved Apps

Appsfire, iTunes App Store Discovery Company has claimed that around 1 million apps have been submitted and approved in the App Store since it was launched four years ago in July 2008. However, Apple is yet to officially confirm this claim from Appsfire.

Experts believe that this figure could be realistic as Apple had announced having 7,00,000 apps in the store some time ago. Apple usually takes in to consideration only the number of live apps in iTunes App Store and not the total number of apps approved over the years.

Appsfire was tweeted as saying, “Breaking: today will mark the day the App store has seen 1 million apps ever created since launch (iOS)". Ouriel Ohayon, Co-founder of Appsfire published this staggering statistics. According to him, about half of the total 1 million apps are paid ones and out of which around 1,60,000 are games. The total number of live apps in the App Store as of now includes 7,36,000 apps. Paid apps account for 45% where as games apps accounts for 16%.

As per Apple, about 400 million iTunes Account Holders have teamed up for downloading iOS apps 35 billion times. iTunes App Store is facing stiff competition from Google Play Store which has currently over 6,75,000 apps currently available. Google Play Store has witnessed 25 billion downloads compared to 35 billion downloads happening in iTunes App Store.
