AVX: Siri-ous New Voice Assistant for Android devices

AVX is a newly released voice assistant for Android. The company press release informs that the new app is particularly useful in the car and is making waves due to it's extensive list of features that outshine even what Siri on the iPhone is capable of.

The latest version now includes support for NFC tags on compatible devices. Aside from the regular voice assistant features it has the following list of abilities that are all hands-free accessible using just your voice:

• Read and reply to incoming text messages including those from your Google Voice account. There is no safer app for in-car texting.


• Read and reply to email. You can configure multiple email accounts including MS Exchange.


• Schedule calendar appointments, either as quick reminders or fully integrated Google calendar events that will notify the attendees automatically.


• Location based reminders and actions allow you to be reminded or even run any other command when you leave, pass or arrive at a location. You can even qualify these with direction of travel or time of day.


• Hands-free calling of any contacts in your address book or simply dialing a business or number.


• Navigating or getting directions to any location using Google Maps.


• Finding local businesses or just saying I'm hungry for a list of local eateries.


• Make lists, take memos and make journal entries.

Evernote integration so all your memos, lists and journal entries are stored in Evernote.

• Read and reply to your Facebook feed. While commuting your feed can be read out loud and you can comment on or like posts. Filter just those people from which you want posts read.


• Read and reply to your Twitter feed. Now you can have your feed read aloud while commuting. Receive tweets the second they are posted. Filter just those people from which you want tweets read.


• MS Exchange Integration that accesses your Exchange calendar as well as email.


• Home Automation via Insteon, Control your home lighting or open your garage door with just your voice.


• Dynamic profiles for changing settings to suit your environment allow you to configure your device settings for work, home, night or car so your phone is always configured correctly and only doing the functions you want in the location you are at.


• Execute actions using NFC tags. Place tags where they are convenient and swipe your phone past them to execute any function such as switching a profile or opening your garage door.


• Launch any application and assign custom names to your apps.


• Open browser bookmarks by assigning custom names to the web address.


• Integration with Tasker for complete control of your device.


• Complete hands-free mode that is always listening for your assigned wake up phrase.


• Car mode with functions specifically designed to make using your phone safer in the car.
