Evernote 5 for Mac is Now Available with Over 100 New Features

Evernote’s application for the Mac has been given a major make-over with improved search functions, shortcut bar and Atlas view showing the location of notes. Evernote 5, the application for the Mac has been given a new look with new and modified features focusing on a more pleasing visual layout and with the aim to make its functions like browsing and sharing notes much easier for the users, announced the company blog.

According to Andrew Sinkov of Marketing division at Evernote, who wrote in the company blog announcing the news, this update of the application which is to be launched today, has incorporated a lot of user friendly features resulting in drastically changing the application.

He also said that Evernote had spend the past year in analyzing the requirements of new as well as seasoned users in order to modify the application to cater to the needs of both groups, the result being an update with a scope unmatched by any of the previous updates. 

A series of new features mark this latest update including a shortcut bar which keeps track of notes, based on ones that have been looked at most and those that have been looked at recently. The search functions have been drastically improved with options to automatically offer suggestions, to see the saved and recent searches while the user begins to type the search keywords. 

The other improvements incorporated are modifications to sharing, improvement in activity stream and introduction of a new feature called Atlas view of notes. The application will display a sharing bar which will indicate the number of people who have viewed the shared note as well as their names. Evernote team said that Mountain Lion's notification center is a feature incorporated to increase the activity stream. 

One of the new highlight features of Evernote is the location service called Atlas view used for tracking your notes by mapping the location of your notes. According to Evernote, this feature can be enabled on your Mac by accessing Security and Privacy from System Preferences. Locate can be added to a note by clicking the ‘i’ icon on the right corner of the screen and then entering the address or clicking the compass arrow.
