Mark Zuckerberg's social network in it's efforts to bring a completely new mobile experience released Facebook Home to smartphones lately. Eventually, the app made it's way to on April 12. Since then the application picked up quite a number, in terms of downloads.
Within a span of one week, the social networking cored - app, has picked up a total of 500,000 downloads. The app was first first mad available to the US and later on rolled to other countries on April 16.
Facebook Home is currently only available for certain devices, which include Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Note II, HTC One X and HTC One X+. Will the app be made available for other devices, is yet to be known. However, there is news that the app works on the upcoming biggies, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Facebook home does bring in some cool features, like News Feeds straight to your home screen, bigger and bolder notifications, chat heads for easy and convenient conversation via Facebook messenger and App launcher for quick access. However the app hasn't managed to get great reviews, it's average rating on Google Play is only 2.2. Anyways, the app does do exactly what it was designed to do. Perhaps the idea of converting handsets into Facebook phones proves to be a little too much for a few people or maybe the app requires a few more tweaks before it can be excepted full-heartedly.
Mark Zuckerberg has expressed his vision of turning as many phones as possible into Facebook phones. His plans will have to wait, as it seams unlikely that the app would be made available for iOS and Windows Phone anytime soon
