Microsoft confirms Windows Phone Marketplace Is Now Windows Phone Store

Microsoft has announced that they are retiring the name Windows Phone Marketplace and will be launching the Windows Phone Store instead.

In fact, not only does the Windows Phone Store follow the footsteps of Windows 8's Store by having the same Store icon, but also comes with new features and capabilities.

"In addition to its new name, the Window Phone Store also sports a few improvements designed to make finding great apps and games for your phone even easier," Microsoft states.

The new Windows Phone Store has a cleaner design and new menu options, as well as the Search box being powered by Bing to help you find apps and games.

The new Store also comes with a smarter app lists so users can find what is required – easier than ever. Microsoft has even put together a mechanism to report problem apps by simply clicking the "Report concern" link.

So next time you check out the Windows Phone Store and notice that the Marketplace link has been renamed to Apps & Games, you will know that you are on the new site. Further, the company has informed that Australia and New Zealand will see this update first, and then around the world a few weeks later.
