New suite of apps coming in Windows 8 Phones
Windows 8 Phones will be reaching our hands shortly. Microsoft announced a lot of features and applications on their new Windows 8 OS. The Windows phone users can enjoy a new suite of apps soon. Nokia is the first gadget giant to come up with this news which gives an indication that others will also follow the same.
In the middle of this good news from Nokia, there is something to worry as they revealed that the current phones line up wouldn"t be getting the upgrade to Windows Phone 8 on an immediate basis, but new apps will be made available to the upcoming phones and as part of the updates to the existing ones.
The first one in the new apps list is 'PlayTo" which enables the sharing of contents in the phone over DLNA to home stereo as well as to compatible HDTV. 'Nokia Counters" will enable you to monitor the phone usage like talktime, message count, data traffic and also to set limits. The status regarding the communication to the phone contacts can also be checked.
The camera spec will also witness a software upgrade on Nokia sets. This will include various interesting features like action shot, panorama, self-timer, and smart-group shot. The Smart Group shot is the best among them which uses Scalado's technology by which several consecutive photos can be taken, and you can choose the best face for each one of them in the scene. By panorama, panning landscape images can be captured automatically, and auto-stitch will be done later.
'Nokia Maps" app is also getting updated, and the new features allow you to upload photos, prepare reviews of locations and also to sync the favourites among them with a computer. 'Nokia Transport" allow you to pin a particular location on the Start screen which can be later touched so as to know the best transport links to that place from the current location.
Last but not the least, 'Nokia Drive" will monitor the commutes and has the ability to take an account of the routes you cover. In the future, it will be able to give you these alternative routes enabling you to pick the best among them.
These new apps will hit the Windows Marketplace in two weeks time, and Nokia revealed that these apps will be exclusive for their handsets in the first two months after their release.
