According to reports, a brand new free app, dubbed Play Magnus, has been released which lets you challenge a digital version of the reigning chess world champion Magnus Carlsen on your iPhone.

Carlsen holds the highest rating of any grandmaster ever, and so a match with a player of that caliber might be a nerve wrecking proposal. However, it's not that hard as well as the game allows you to challenge the champion at various stages in his career.

Play Magnus offers you the opportunity to play chess against the official Magnus Carlsen "tuned" chess engine and gives you the chance to qualify to play Magnus Carlsen Live at a secret location," the official app store description for the same states.

"Play Magnus supports 1 player gameplay, while future versions will offer multiplayer functionality.
In the mean time, test your skills against challenging the Magnus Carlsen computer opponent and share with your friends to earn additional points," it adds.
