Skype for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Gets Updated with Microsoft Account Login, Animated Icons and More

It was just a week before when Skype 3.0 was released for Android OS with features like Microsoft log in’s and new tablet UI. Now Skype app for iOS version is also receiving the same features in the new updated version which was released. Users can download the latest Skype for iOS from iTunes store for free.

Skype had earlier announced their plans to integrate Windows Live messenger with Skype and the new update seems to be a step in this direction. Along with this messenger integration, there are some more interesting features like animated emoticons which are being introduced as part of this new update Skype for iOS app.

With this update coming along, now users would be able to use their log in credentials in Microsoft apps like hotmail, outlook.com and messenger for logging to the Skype app. Users can also chat cross platform from their Skype account to users on any of these Microsoft platforms.

Those users who have Apple devices with retina display can also enjoy using animated icons with this Skype updated version. Nobody is still clear on why Skype restricted this feature to those devices with retina display unit, but this feature is not expected to be an absolute necessity for the users. There are some more features included in this new update like

  • Set up Skype account from any iOS app itself

  • Edit the instant messages by just holding and holding them

  • Bug fixes and performance improvement features
