Whatsapp, the cross-platform mobile messaging app for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Phone, recently disappeared from the Windows marketplace. Users panicked however the analysts assured the that popular app would return with tweaks and updates.
And it did happen! WhatsApp for Windows Phone reappeared in Windows Marketplace on Sunday with an update to version 2.8.
The update is a welcome note for all Windows Phone users who have installed this app. It is available for free download. Earlier rumors were hinting that the updated version to going to be available at $0.99 price tag. However, currently the reports are informing that the app is available for free only for the first year and users will have to pay $0.99 price after the completion of one year.
At the same time, the latest version has been released with a number of improvements in its functionalities. A few bug fixes are also evident with the latest update. Users can now have enhanced app experience with its new version 2.8.
With the latest WhatsApp for Windows Phone update, the toolbar now has three new options included in it. The new options include – Search, Status and Create Group.
A major improvement is the provision for sharing a contact in a message. Users can now enjoy animations while opening chats. The latest version has placed the ‘Search’ tab under the ‘Favorites & All’ options to make search process simpler. The update has also given users with enhanced control over notifications. The app performance is improved as it responds much faster to actions.
The description about configuration can be modified with the latest version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone by choosing the ‘Show Message in Notification’ instead of ‘Using Push Notification for received messages’. One of the minor drawbacks with the update is the removal of some of the emoticons from the app.
