Fujifilm has come up with lens accessory for its X-100 camera. Fujifilm WCL-X100 is the new wide angle converter especially designed for the sensor compact camera Fujifilm X100. The new conversion lens will be attached on the camera directly and has the capability to convert to19mm wide angle. The design is made efficiently so as to have a seamless blend with X-100 camera.
The materials used, colour as well as texture are same as that of the X100 itself. There are options to use PRF-49S protective filter and also LH-X100 lens hood with this new lens. There are options to attach clip-on lens cap on them too. The new lens which is manufactured in Japan is an all-glass optical model. This lens will be out with a Fujinon EBC coating. An extra versatility will be offered by Fujifilm WCL-X100 to Fujifilm X100 which is an award winning camera.
The picture taking flexibility is improved as now user can vary the focal length to 0.8x. It is converted from 23mm to 19mm wide angle for better efficiency.
Key features of WCL-X100 include the following
- 0.8x magnification factor
- Glass optical construction
- Fujinon EBC coating
- Comparable image quality
- Bokeh effect retained
The user have to first choose the ‘Wide Conversion Lens’ alternative from the shooting menu options of the camera. For accessing this extra option, the camera must be having Firmware version 1.3.0 or its advanced versions. This will provide users with good options for choosing this alternative with RAW buttons or Function (Fn).
Fujifilm X100 has options for image processing also on the shots taken by WCL-X100 lens. Users have an option to reduce image distortion, reduce chromatic aberration and also to ensure balanced illumination with the camera frame. These are the problems usually found with wide angle lens. The image processing option with this camera will help to manage the overall efficiency.
The addition of this WCL-X100 will improve the overall effectiveness of the camera. The auto focussing speed has not been changed. The 10cm macro distance is also maintained as it is in the camera. The compatibility nature of the wide angle lens with the Fujifilm X100’s hybrid viewfinder also adds to the efficiency.
WCL-X100 will be made available in dual colours of black and silver. This new lens will arrive in the market most probably by this June. The price of this lens will be around Rs.18,000/-.
