A new era of Android powered cameras has started and the devices in this category are bridging the gap between smartphones and cameras. Consumers who were once opting for SLRs and DSLRs are looking to move on to the bandwagon of Android cameras that support applications similar to smartphones.
Samsung, the South Korean tech giant unveiled an Android camera – Galaxy Camera at the IFA 2012 event in Berlin and unveiled it in several countries in September.
When it comes to specs, the camera houses a 4.8 inch HD Super Clear LCD touchscreen display of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, 1.4GHz processor, 16MP camera with 21x optical zoom, 8GB internal memory, micro SD card supporting up to 32GB expandable memory, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity features and a 1,650 Li-ion battery.
Now, Samsung has officially confirmed that it will release the Galaxy Camera in UK on November 8, 2012 for a price of £400 (approx Rs 35,000). In India, Samsung Galaxy Camera was confirmed to hit the retail shelves in mid-November by Samsung officials during the launch event of Galaxy Note 2. And with the confirmation of the UK release and a little analysis on the strategy of Samsung, it is clear that the camera will be released in India soon.
As it is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, the camera can be used to download applications including Instagram, Dropbox, Angry Birds and more from the Google Play Store.
