A thin hybrid next generation Lenovo laptop: X1

Lenovo had announced the entry of ThinkPad X1 notebook into the market from May 17, 2011 since when it has been an amazing one with its slim looks. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is only 17mm thick! It comes with three processor options – Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 Sandy Bridge.

Other features of the notebook include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options, inclusion of HDMI output, Mini DisplayPort and USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports. It also offers optional mobile broadband support. It supports RAM of up to 8GB and the storage options on offer include 160 GB and 128 GB SSDs and 320 GB/250 GB hard drives. This is a hybrid notebook so there is the combo option of a conventional HDD and an 80 GB SSD.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is equipped with a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels. Entertainment options are ensured with the Dolby Home Theater. ThinkPad X1 is also equipped with dual digital-array microphone, 4-in-1 media card reader and integrated webcam. There is also the on-board Ethernet connection.

While the X1’s integrated battery offers a maximum use of 5.2 hours, you can extend that to up to 10 hours if you get an external slice battery that is an optional feature. X1 has been equipped with Lenovo RapidCharge feature that helps you charge the battery to up to 80 per cent in just half an hour.

Any business-cum-entertainment notebook has got to be not only light but also durable and equipped for hard use. Everyone knows by now that Lenovo advertises its products as being tested with military spec tests. Lenovo has therefore gone for the proven roll cage technology to give the internal components of ThinkPad X1 notebook added protection. To protect the screen Lenovo has incorporated the now common Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The back-lit keyboard is also spill-resistant.

In the looks department too, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 delivers a good appeal. Its design is certainly distinctive not only when you look at it but also when you touch it. The roll cage technology has made the magnesium alloy chassis rigid and it has a rubberized matte black soft-touch finish characteristic of the Lenovo ThinkPad range. Not only does this give you a firm grip as you use it, but it is also resistant to fingerprints and reasonably resistant to scratches.

Price of Lenovo ThinkPad X1 notebooks in India start at web price of approximately Rs. 60, 000.
