People are always on the lookout for small, efficient and thin laptops. The first choice for most of them would be when they have such a device in mind is Apple’s MacBook Air. But the pricing of the device is a major turn off for the buyers. There are not much people who can afford such a device for their day to day activities.
Acer has plans to make use of this opportunity and launch an ultrabook with a price tag that is much cheaper than that of Apples device. If that is the case then Apple is going to face some serious competition. The device is said to feature a 15 inch screen and this will give it an edge over the ultrabook devices since none of the other ultrabook models feature such a big screen.
Acer has recently stated in a press conference that it would be focusing its attention on lower end products and high tech ultrabooks next year. There are rumours that the company has plans to launch many ultrabooks next year. No specifications or details of the device are till now available. But since it comes from the Acers stables, there would not be any question about efficiency and reliability. The company officials are also keeping a tight lip approach to these speculations.
The success of such a device, if and when launched in the market, will be in the fact that they would appeal to a larger crowd who are on the lookout for a portable PC that has a somewhat large screen and which is easy on the pocket. This device can easily satisfy the corporate needs too. For a comparison the only other ultra book that can be pitched against Acers device is Samsungs 14 inch series 5 model. The problem is that it is not available outside South Korea and also its pricing is expected to be well over 50K when it finally makes its entry.
Acers new ultra book is speculated to have a price tag of well under Rs.40,000/- in India. The model may be launched in the consumer electronics show which will be held in Las Vegas from January 10th -13th. It may also reach the customers all around the world by the mid of next year. It would definitely take the ultrabook sector by storm if it has good specs to go with it.
