Acer C7 Chromebook: What About Best Features of the New Google Laptop?

It was only a month back when Samsung along with Google released it latest and cheapest third generation Chromebook at a price tag of $249 (approx. Rs 13,500) running on Google Chrome OS.

However, now a latest development has taken place in the Google ecosystem. Asus has launched the latest version of Google-branded Chromebook laptops -- Acer C7 at $199 (approx. Rs 11,000), claimed by the company to be the cheapest of all.

At the launch event, Sundar Pichai, senior vice president of Chrome and apps at Google was quoted stating, “The core of Google"s Chromebook vision is creating a better, more simple computing experience and making it available to everyone. We are excited about the Acer C7 Chromebook, the newest addition to the Chromebook family. The Acer C7 delivers a hassle-free computing experience with the speed, security and simplicity that users expect of Chromebooks built in."

Also, Jim Wong, corporate president of Acer claimed that, “Today"s computer users are doing more online heightening the need for enhanced security, quicker online access and an easy-to-use interface. The Acer C7 Chromebook provides all this at an affordable price, making it the right choice for families and students on a budget as well as anyone who wants a new or second mobile PC for web-based computing."

What About Features?

Talking about specifications, measuring 1.4kg, Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2847) features 11.6" LED-backlit LCD display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, Intel Celeron 847 processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM memory, 320GB hard disk drive, 1.3MP webcam with LED indicator and microphone.

Further, the notebook comes with dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Ethernet connectivity, HDMI and VGA ports, HD camera and 3 USB 2.0 ports and battery offering about 3.5 hours backup.

According to Google, Acer Chromebook is available for $199 (approx. Rs 11,000) in the U.S. Google Play, BestBuy.com starting November 13 and will be rolling out this week in select Best Buy stores. In the U.K., it"s available on Google Play, Amazon UK, PC World and Currys. Moreover, the notebook will be made available in more countries soon.
