One disappointing drawback of Acer Travelmate 8481T is that it lacks an optical drive. But it makes up for the drawback with its heavy duty performance and a slim but durable chassis made of magnesium- aluminum alloy. The 14 inch screen of Acer Travelmate Timeline 8481T is designed in such a way that screen bezels aren't incorporated. The screen comes with matte finish and is anti-reflective. The large screen is very much appealing but the screen resolution should have been 1600 x 900 pixels, according to critics, instead of just 1366 x 768 pixels.
The Acer Fine Touch model keyboard offers easier typing, hence more accuracy, as the keys are cozily spaced. The Enter key is easy to hit as it's a bit enlarged. But as the keys are a bit over raised from the base plate, we are not sure how long the strength of the keyboard will last, as it's kind of easy to pull a key off from the keyboard. But with the comfort that the Acer Travelmate Timeline 8481T offers while typing, such an issue is negligible. The large touch pad allows you to move the cursor all around the screen in a single sweep. It's very responsive and also supports zooming and scrolling using multi-touch inputs. A fingerprint scanner also comes in between the large buttons of the touchpad.
Acer Travelmate Timeline 8481T runs in Windows 7 Professional operating system and equips a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-2467M
