With the release of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, many smartphones and tablets made by leading manufacturers have been receiving the updates of the same.
When it comes to Asus the Taiwanese tech giant, the company announced that it will roll out the latest version of the Google's OS to several tablets. A month after the announcement, the company upgraded Transformer Pad Infinity and Pad 300 tablets alone.
There is good news for those users of the previous flagship device of Asus – the Transformer Prime TF201, as the company has started rolling out the Jelly Bean upgrade for the same starting with Sweden.
The Facebook Page of Asus Sweden has claimed that the new firmware update will wipe off features like Adobe Flash support from Google Play and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity. However, it will provide a link, from where users can download the Adobe Flash Player.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update brings new features including Project Butter for faster, smoother and more responsive performance, enhanced accessibility with new APIs, support for International users with bi-directional text support, other language support, user-installable keymaps, expandable and contractible notifications, resizble app widgets, simplified task navigation, live wallpaper preview, high resolution contact photos, improved Android Beam and Wi-Fi network and direct service discovery.
The Jelly Bean upgrade is an OTA (over the air) and users will receive an OTA notification on their tablets. If the users are too curious to try the Jelly Bean on their devices, they can update it manually by going to Settings → System Firmware Update → Check Update.
Though there is no word on the global rollout of the Android Jelly Bean upgrade, it is expected to reach the Indian markets soon.
Talking about the specifications of the Transformer Prime TF201 tablet, it sports a 10.1" LED Backlight Super IPS+ WXGA touchscreen display with 1280x800 pixel resolution, NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-core processor, 64GB internal storage, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera with autofocus and flash, 1.2MP front camera and 2-cell Li-Po battery.
Priced at Rs 46,010, the tablet is packed with connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth V2.1 with EDR.
