Acer has introduced their new Acer Iconia Tab A500 with refined features and has Apple iPad 2 WiFi as its main opponent in the market. The trust for people on Apple is definitely a plus point for the new Apple iPad 2 but Acer does stand a chance with the device having many interesting features. The LED TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and 768 X 1024 pixel resolutions in iPad2 is really impressive. LCD capacitive touchscreen in Acer Iconia TabA500 is pretty good too. It has the resolution of an 800 X 1280 pixel and a quiet big 10.1 inch screen. The pad is provided with accelerometer sensor for auto rotate and a proximity sensor for auto turn off. The multi touch input and Gyro sensor in the pad adds to its advantage. Apple iPad 2 meanwhile has a bonus finger print or scratch resistance oleo phobic surface and the gyro sensor here is a three axis sensor.
Apple iPad 2 is available with memory options of 16/32/64 GB. However the device doesn't have an external memory expandability slot. Acer Iconia Tab A500 at the same time comes with an external memory slot that is microSD compatible with which the memory can be expanded to a 32 GB.
Acer Iconia Tab A500 has in it a 5 MP camera with a 2592 X 1944 pixel support and included features like autofocus and LED flash. In Apple iPad 2 the camera is a 0.7 MP with 960 X 720 pixel support.
Both the new tablet pcs have an equally powerful 1GHz dual core ARM cortex A9 processor. Apple iPad2 here will have its own very efficient Apple A5 chipset while it will be a Tegra 2 T20 chipset in Acer Iconia Tab. The new tablet pcs will share many common attributes like a Digital compass and support for multiple file formats like MP3 and MP4. Acer supports document viewers (MS Office) and other online applications like Google Talk and YouTube.
