Archos confirms getting ICS update for all G9 tablets
The name Archos is not at all that common in the tablet segment but the company has launched some impressive tablets recently. The main notable feature of their tablets is that they come with a very affordable price tag. Some of the models that they have introduced recently are the Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9.
There is good news for the users of this tablet as well as the prospective buyers. Archos has integrated Ice Cream sandwich operating system to their tablets. During the consumer electronics show Archos has displayed G9 tablets running on the ICS operating system. Archos officials also said during the CES that the G9 tablets will be getting the ICS update in the brining of February. There where rumors in the beginning itself stating that ICS upgrade would be coming to their tablets in the beginning of this year and they appears to be true. The G9 display units during the show was running on Android 4.0.1 but by the time of the official launch the company will be offering Android 4.0.3 operating system.
Arcos 101G9 is a media oriented tablet, that is it has all the features for you to enjoy music, videos and games on the move along with the common tablet functionalities. This tablet currently runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb version. This tablet has an OMAP 4 dual core processor which is clocked at 1 GHz. The tablet comes with lots of connectivity ports too. A standard micro USB port, microSD card slot and a mini HDMI port is scattered around the device. This gadget packs in a screen size of 10.1 inches. This capacitive touch screen in is quite sensitive too. The display packs in a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Archos 101G9 is priced at about Rs.20,000/- in india.
Archos 80 G9 tablet packs in a screen size of 8 inches and is more compact and light weight than its bigger brother. The screen has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and is sufficiently bright to be used even outside. The processor in this device is OMAP 4 Soc which has a clock speed of 1 GHz. The device has only a single main camera in the front which is intended for video chatting so don’t bother to take good quality pictures with those. The tablet has lots of preloaded applications too. Archos 80 G9 tablet has a price tag of around Rs.15,000/- in india.
