New Asus UX21 Ultrabook

New Asus UX21 Ultrabook
As Intel keeps developing cool notebooks which are thinner and lighter than the ordinary, Asus is gaining good reputation with their own Ultrabook models, and is being recognized but at a slow rate. At the Computex 2011 event, Asus let the World know about their newest creation; one which is going to be revolutionary among all Ultrabooks. Asus called this product the Asus UX21 Ultrabook. At the IFA Berlin, the UX21 grabbed everybody's attention just with its looks. Now certain details about its specifications are out.

The Asus UX21 is so lightweight that you won't feel anything when you are holding it in your hand, metaphorically speaking. When you look at it for the first time, you might be reminded of the Macbook Air. But although both the Ultrabooks seem to look same, they aren't. The UX21 has a luxuriously built aluminum alloy case which is very smooth and makes you want to run your hands all over it again once you do the same. The beautiful 13 inch display of the UX21 is one of the most attractive traits of this 2.5 pound laptop.

Asus had to take many risky decisions while designing the laptop. They wanted UX21 to be the slimmest laptop yet and they did succeed but at a risky cost. Asus had to let go of the removable battery and optical drive feature in order to keep Asus UX21 this thin. They used a glass touchpad of just one piece and the keyboard keys are made of metal. This gave UX21, a sleek, modern and fashionable look. With 17 mm thickness, the UX21 Ultrabook doesn't offer much space for connectivity ports. So Asus designed the device to occupy the v3.0 USB port at the far end near its hinge. As a matter of fact, along with and beside the single super fast v3.0 USB port there are a few other ports as well namely the micro HDMI out, the DC power adapter port as well as a light meant to show the power status of the Ultrabook.

UX21 is driven by SandForce and the device includes SSD which makes it pretty fast in booting up and also helps to utilize the battery efficiently to a certain extent. Stereo speakers are placed at both the edges of the Ultra book and are not easily noticeable but perform impressively. As per a few reports from sources, the Ultra book runs in Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1. Asus UX21 gives awesome performance all thanks to the 1.8 GHz Intel Core i7-2677M processor and 4 GB RAM. But almost all expectations are concerned with the battery life. As UX21 is super slim, doubts will obviously arise about how much battery life it has.

Asus UX21 13 inch Ultra book will be available in India soon and its price in India is estimated and expected to be about Rs 48,000/-.
