Dell Inspiron 620s Review

Dell Inspiron 620s Review
Dell’s Inspiron 620 series cabinets come in two models – The Mini Tower and Slim Tower (620s). These Dell Inspirons under review have a black front bezel which looks glossy and stylish with an 18.5 inch display screen. Text inputs will be a smooth experience with the sleek USB keyboard provided by Dell. A durable Dell MS111 USB Optical Mouse also comes with these Dell laptops. Speakers aren’t available along with the cabinet. They will have to be bought separately.

Dell Inspiron 620s also comes in more attractive colours namely solid white, deep Purple, formosa red and peacock blue. Dimensions measure 14.9 inch (height) x 4.2 inch (width) x 17.01 inch (depth). Dell Inspiron cabinet can be positioned according to the space requirements available. It has 4 rubber stands at the base and its right side as well. This lets the user position the cabinet either vertically upright or horizontally on its side.
When placed vertically, one of the two friend flip panels opens up and exposes the optical drive. A number of ports are integrated in the Dell Inspiron 620s which are all of use and it is a big advantage to have all of them.

The ports of these Dell Inpirons under review include 2 USB ports, a headphone microphone jack, and even a very useful multi card reader slot. The hard disk in these Dell laptops is easily removable and is placed on a blue tray inside the cabinet instead of being fixed with screws. The Dell Inspiron 620s cabinet comes with only 250W power supply which is placed at the bottom of the cabinet. This actually facilitates better ventilation inside the cabinet.

The heat sink laptop features in the cabinet are worthy of praise. Two exhaust fans are present inside the cabinet – one on top of the processor which is apt and the other in front of the hard disk. Access to the interior of the cabinet is by the usual way in most cabinets; removing 2 screws in the left panel.

Dell Inspiron 620s cabinet is small but pretty spacious. Dell has taken care not to make the cabinet unimpressive. Wiring of the components in the laptop is quite nifty and it looks very much compact. This facilitates easy access to hardware components like the Graphics processing Unit, RAM chips, etc.

Dell Inspiron being reviewed comes with Intel second generation 3.30 GHz Intel Core i3-2120M (Sandy Bridge) processor, DDR3 RAM of 4 GB, AMD Radeon HD 6450 awesome GPU and 1 TB HDD. 6 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port, VGA port, Gigabit Ethernet port are also available at the back. Too bad it lacks a USB 3.0 port which would have given it a far better rating.

The system runs in integrated Windows 7 Home edition and highlighted pre-installed softwares include MS Office 2010 Starter edition, the Wild Tangent games app and Skype. Viewing HD videos is like a walk in the park in this series and it offers great performance while processing memory intensive tasks and multitasking. Gaming performance in the system is amazing and is sure to give you an incredible visual experience. You may also choose to make it better by upgrading the Graphics using low profile HTPC graphics card. But still there is less space for adding more components and the heat sinks may not be enough as well. The only major drawback is the fragile flip panels.

Including moderate speakers and VAT (5%), the Inspiron 620s price is around Rs 36,000/-.
