Exclusive: Microsoft Surface Tablet Coming to India Soon

|

Back in 2012, Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft announced Surface range of tablets. The Redmond-based software giant was hoping to see turnaround in the tablet market with Surface devices. However, it didn't happen, as the Surface RT was panned by critics and consumers respectively.

In case of Surface Pro, the device got above average reviews. Nonetheless, the makers behind Xbox 360 managed to occupy fifth position among the leading tablet makers. Multiple reports suggest that Microsoft sold 900,000 Surface RT and Surface Pro tablet.

More than a year passed and still we have no clue when company plans to announce Surface range in India. The Surface Pro tablet is already available in select Asian markets including China and Hong Kong. While, the Surface RT was launched in Malaysia and Thailand few days back. Will India ever get to see Microsoft launching Surface range of tablets? We tried to find the answer on our own.

Recently GizBot interacted with a senior executive from Microsoft (Consumers Channel Group) during Acer Iconia W3 launch in New Delhi. When asked whether Microsoft will ever announce Surface tablets in India. The executive politely told "Stay Tuned". Surely, he wanted to keep this secret away from media glory, but we got our answer. It is not clear whether India is getting Surface Pro along with Surface RT or just one device out of two. We hope to see Surface Pro soon, as it is far more functional than Surface RT.
