Twitter sensation @evleaks has recently come up with close-up pictures of Nexus 7 2. These press shots (see above images) actually looks real. The form factor remains same, when compared to its predecessor. This time around, the Nexus 7 2 has plain rear back instead of soft rubbery cover.

There's a camera on the back, which was not present in the previous iteration. The placement of 3.55mm headphone jack has been changed. In addition, dual- speaker grills are easily visible on the back (upper front and beneath the tablet). On the front panel, you can see the camera on the right hand side. Moreover, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean has been confirmed, if one looks closely at the tablet.

Interestingly, Best Buy advertisement reveals Nexus 7 to have a 7-inch display having resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The end model will be made available to consumers in 16GB ($229) version. The 32GB version is also rumored alongside 16GB.

The next iteration of Nexus 7 is eagerly awaited, as both Google and Asus are confident enough to give Apple a cut throat competition. It is also believed that because of Nexus 7, Apple launched an 8-inch iPad Mini in late last year. If Google is planning to announce Nexus 7 2 on July 24, than Apple is also not far behind.

The Cupertino-based giant is working on two different iterations of iPad Mini. LG is said to be deliver Retina Display panels to Apple on time, and we could see the coming of a high-end version of iPad Mini later this year. The original iPad Mini was criticized for being low on hardware side.

Last but not the least; Tim Cook may announce a cheaper version of iPad Mini in September. The retail price is said to be at par with Nexus 7 2. However, internal specifications are still not out.

If Apple is ready to curb the growing power of Google in the tablet space, Microsoft another emerging tablet could be ready with low-cost Surface RT with 7-inch display, around October- November time frame.
