HP or Hewlett-Packard is a business enterprise which is based on America. The company has ensured its foot holds in both the software as well as hardware technology. The company specializes in the design and production of computing hardware, storage devices and other needed peripherals. HP released a tablet pc named the Slate500 back in 2010 but it never really made its way to HP consumers.
The Slate 2 tablet looks very much like its older brother the Slate 500.The Slate offers almost all feature that are found in a net book but in the mean time it comes in a tablet pc design. This tablet offers enhanced features, performance and security compares to its sibling. The tablet is aimed at the business class who would like to carry around their work wherever they go .This ultra portable and extremely light device makes it possible. The device has dimensions of 9.21x5.91x0.61 inches. It weighs in at about 1.52 pounds that is just about 690 grams. It is sufficiently light to carry around very easily. The device comes in black or silver colors.
Coming to the display HP Slate 2 features an 8.9 inch LCD display. The screen is capacitive multi-touch in type. The screen works well with a stylus too, which is included in the box. The screen resolution is 1024x768 pixel and it has a primarily landscape orientation. The device runs on Intel atom Z670 processor. This processor has a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. The device packs in 2GB RAM of DDR2 type. It has an internal storage memory of about 64GB in its mSATA hard drive and there is an external card slot with which the memory can be further increased. The external storage supports all common memory card types including microSD and miniSD.
There are two cameras attached to it. The front camera resolution is about 3Megapixels and it is ideal for taking quick snaps on the move. There is also a front facing camera that is mainly intended for video conferencing. In the device two USB 2.0 ports are provided and also a HDMI connection port. The device can be therefore easily hooked up to a TV or projector via HDMI cable. A 3.5mm head phone jack is also included. An accelerometer sensor integrated in it that automatically changes the screen orientation based on the position of the device. Stereo speakers are also inbuilt into the device.
HP Slate 2 runs on 30Wh fixed type battery. With a full charge it can run for up to 6 hours nonstop. The connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device works in Bluetooth version 4.0.
HP offer added security to this tablet by adding Trusted platform module (TPM) embedded security chip to the device. This provides additional security to the data on the tablet. Therefore important details and information can be put into the device without the risk of it being lost to the wrong hands. The device works in windows 7 professional 32 bit version.
The device will be priced at about approximately Rs. 35,000/- in India.
