The suspense around iPad Mini Retina Display is keeping everyone glued towards Apple's forthcoming mini tablet. From rumors to alleged leaked images, the interest in iPad Mini 2 is not less than Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
Now the latest expose' came in the form of a report by Taiwan's DigiTimes. According to the published report, LG Display is said to ship around 2-3 million (on a monthly basis) of Retina Display panel to be used in the next-generation iPad Mini.
Earlier it was said that due to technical glitch, Apple could push the release date of iPad Mini 2 in 2014. Sources close to DigiTimes believe that the Cupertino-based tech giant would like to announce next-generation iPad Mini with better resolution later this year.
Last week, China's Economic Daily clearly stated that Apple wanted to skip the production of iPad Mini 2 due to production issues. While many believe that LG was facing manufacturing problems in making high-resolution displays to be used in iPad Mini. Looks like, LG is now more confident about its targets, and most likely able to deliver Retina Display panels to Apple on time. Originally, LG had to start producing Retina Display panels in the month of June- July time frame.
"We should see the start of mass production of the panels in June or July." as per Richard Shim, analyst at NPD DisplaySearch. The statement dates back to May, 2013.
In the meantime, Product-Reviews got its hands on the sensational image of iPad Mini 2. The site claims that the alleged image of iPad Mini 2 is said to be the final design. And no changes are expected in the final product. As rumored, the Apple iPad Mini 2 will have edge-to-edge screen, and here also the design depicts the same. There is a front facing camera and home button visible on the front side of the tablet. The tablet appears to be even thinner than its predecessor.
In the coming days, Google is also expected to announce a sequel to Nexus 7 along with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. And Players like Samsung had announced their new range of tablets in the market. It would be interesting to compare iPad Mini 2 with Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 311. Stay tuned to GizBot.
