As the tablet market is growing, many new manufacturers are entering the segment. Some of the new manufacturers too are offering good quality, user friendly tablets. LePan is comparitively a new entrant in the tablet segment even though they have been selling their tablets online through Amazon's website and other retailers.

So what makes them special? The low budget tablets showcased by them have hardware specifications that are on par with many high-end tablets out there in the market. LePan tablets are currently on display during the consumer electronics show.

LePan III is the flagship model that is offered by the company. This tablet packs in all the features present in a business class tablet. The tablet will feature Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich operating system. This will be one of the very first tablets to come with this latest android OS. The tablet is powered by a TI OMAP 4460 dual core processor.

The processor is clocked at 1.5 GHz. The device comes with 1 GB of RAM. This is more than sufficient system memory to get all your work done and to enjoy some nice media-oriented applications. The memory is expandable as well and for this a microSD card slot is provided so that the user can add external memory cards. All the usual connectivity options are provided and the tablet has Bluetooth version 4.0 in it.

There is GPS support too so that the user can navigate easily through unknown territories. One other tablet that is offered by LePan is TC978. This can be considered as a simplified version of LePan III. But it cannot be considered as a completely stripped down version since it's specifications are also impressive. This tablet is powered by a dual core processor having a clock speed of 1 GHz.

This tablet also features 1 GB RAM but lacks Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The device will be powered by Android HoneyComb version. There is no information on the display size or resolution of these tablets. They are expected to feature a 9.7 inch 1024 x 768 pixel display as in LePan II.
