Micromax announced its first tablet a couple days back. This is exclusively for Indian users. Micromax Funbook is a 7 inch tablet that is loaded with impressive specifications. It has the Android 4.0 ICS operating system, 1.2 GHz processor, dual core graphics processor and more. Its price in India is Rs 6,499 which is sure to make it a success. Let us take a closer look at the tablet to understand more about it.
It is lightweight and slim with a weight of 350 grams and a thickness of 10 mm. It lacks capacitive touch buttons and the physical keys are too hard. They are easy to press but not as the capacitive ones. It has all the necessary ports and slots like SD card slot, 3.5 mm jack, charging port, HDMI port and micro USB port. It is available in white and black colors. Overall, it has a good design and is easy to hold and use.
The display is of 7 inches and is a capacitive touchscreen. It supports multitouch inputs. The screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and also supports the playback of HD videos. The response for touch is smooth enough and does not have any log. It has vibrant and bright color reproduction.
It is powered by a 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex processor and a Mali 400 graphics processor. It has a 512 MB DDR3 RAM on board. These4 specifications are good for a tablet of this size and price. It has a front facing camera of 0.3 MP resolution. This VGA camera captures photos of reasonable quality. It facilitates video chat as well.
The 4 GB internal memory of the tablet can be expanded to about 32 GB using a SD card. The device has a 2800 mAh battery that offers a life of about eight hours on normal usage. It is preloaded with educational content for students in engineering, medical and MBA streams. It also has few in built apps like Zenga and BigFlix.
It also has the Vriti platform that is a marketplace for the educational content. It offers books for the school students and preparatory content for the competitive exams. All these are available in several languages.
