Micromax Funbook Pro Vs Zen Mobile UltraTab A100: Clash Between 2 Latest Budget Android Tablets in India

As the Android tablets have started gaining a lot of popularity in India, a lot of Indian tablet vendors including Micromax, Karbonn, Zen and Wicked Leak have started unveiling more and more killer tablets concentrating on the price of the device as the key deciding factor, when it comes to the budget conscious Indian market.

Consequently, two India based tablet manufacturers have launched Micromax Funbook Pro and Zen UltraTab A100 – two wallet-friendly offerings to secure a significant share of the demanding mass consumer-base in the country. Both the tablets are packed with impressive specifications and are mainly priced competitively.

Dimension: While the dimension and weight of the Funbook Pro are not disclosed by the vendor, UltraTab A100 boasts a measurement of 181.5 x 121 x 10.5 mm and weighs around 295 grams.

Display: Funbook Pro fares well in the segment with a 10.1 inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution as compared to the 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display of the UltraTab A100 with 480 x 800 pixel resolution.

Operating System: In this segment, both the tablet secure equal scores as they are flavored with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, allowing the users to experience similar skin and UI experience.

Processor: Both Funbook Pro and UltraTab A100 are equipped with a 1.2GHz processor, which is standard for the budget tablets.

Camera: While Funbook Pro has a 0.3MP front camera, UltraTab A100 has a better 1.3MP front camera for video calling.

Storage: Funbook Pro has 8GB flash memory along with 1GB RAM whereas UltraTab A100 has 4 GB internal memory and 512 MB RAM. However, both the rivals have a micro SD card slot, which supports expandable memory of up to 32GB.

Connectivity: Both the tablets are Wi-Fi only but they support 3G through dongles. Further, both lack Bluetooth connectivity.

Battery: Funbook Pro is powered by a 5,600 mAh Li-ion battery while UltraTab A100 is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery.

Price: When it comes to pricing, Funbook Pro is priced at Rs 9,999 while the UltraTab A100 is priced at Rs 6,199.

Verdict

Though both the Funbook Pro and UltraTab A100 are cost effective tablets with similar hardware and operating system, they are way too different when it comes to performance.

Being the successor of the education tablet – Micromax Funbook, the Funbook Pro is also loaded with education related content. At the same time, the Zen UltraTab A100, which comes preloaded with movies and apps is priced relatively lower than the Funbook Pro.

While Micromax Funbook Pro could be the the choice for many consumers, the UltraTab A100 scores when it comes to the lower price tag and better front camera resolution.

So in the end, the decision is entirely yours and it depends on your requirements.
