Indian tablet market is flooded with a slew of budget Android tablets launched by several homegrown manufacturers and major global vendors as well. The budget conscious market trend has escalated the competition in the tablets to an entirely new level.

Reliance Communications, one of the leading telecos in the country has been making 3G tablets based on Android OS for quite sometime. The 3G Tab V9A is the latest tablet launched by the telecom service provider.

Priced at Rs 14,000 approximately, the 3G Tab V9A is a mid-range tablet powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and a SIM card slot for 3G support.

At the same time, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 released by Samsung also has similar specifications and a SIM card slot supporting video calling and is making a good sales in the Indian retail market. However, Samsung offering is priced slightly higher at Rs 19,500 and still has the potential to pose a stiff competition to the Reliance offering.

Here is a detailed spec comparison on both the mid-range Android tablets.

Dimensions & Weight:Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 carries a dimension of 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5mm and weighs at 344 grams, on the other hand, 3G Tab V9A boasts a dimension of 192.8 x 121.8 x 12.75 mm and weighs heavier, that is around 402 grams.

Display: Both the tablets have a 7 inch WSVGA LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.

Processor: In this segment, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is equipped with a dual core 1GHz processor while the 3G Tab V9A comes packed with a 1.4GHz processor.

Operating System: Well, of course Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 scores more on the operating system front as it is flavored with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which is not an outdated version as the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS in the 3G Tab V9A.

On the other hand, the Reliance 3G Tab V9A is powered by a 3,400 mAh Li-ion battery of undisclosed backup.

Price: When it comes to pricing, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is priced at Rs 19,500 approximately and the 3G Tab V9A is priced at Rs 14,000 approximately.

Verdict

Both the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and Reliance 3G Tab V9A are mid-range Android tablets with pretty impressive specifications and plethora of preloaded software features.

When comparing the specs of course Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has an upper hand as the device will also come preloaded with many games and applications including Gmail, YouTube, Sync with Google Calendar, Google Search, Google+, Glonass, Samsung Hub, Reader Hub, Game Hub, Samsung ChatON, Samsung Kies and MyReader, offering the best to the likes of its price tag and global brand image.

However, for those who do not want to spend much Reliance 3G Tab V9A is a better option. The tablet is well equipped with decent specs at a budget price, quite smooth, when tough and connectivity factors are concerned and will also come with preloaded apps including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk, Google+, Messenger, Facebook, YouTube, Orkut, Twitter, R World Online, TOI, NDTV, Reliance TV, BIG Flix, Docs to go (Read Only) and more.

Moreover, Reliance is offering freebies worth Rs 6,000 approximately along with the tablet.

Consumers who are not too concerned about the version of Android OS, processor and battery specs and looking for a relatively cheaper device with many freebies and bundled date and voice plans, the Reliance tablet should be the right one.

However, for those who like to have the Android ICS user experience, a better display quality, multi-core processor and long battery life, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will be suitable for them.
