Sharp all set to unveil it's 7inch Galapagos tablet

With the tablet market being flooded with more and more tablets many other companies are also concentrating on this sector. With tablets featuring more bold designs and more cutting technologies being integrated in to them the competition is becoming very fierce. Sharp is the latest company to join the venture.

Sharp is going to flourish in the tablet segment by the launch of their newest proposed 7inch media tablet. Sharp has already launched two tablets earlier before. The tablets where released in Japan and was expected that it would be released all over the world later. But the tablets didn’t quite make it. The released tablets included two models. The 5.5 inch version and also the 10.8 inch version. The tablets didn’t make it because even though they were called tablets the system was cloud based and performed much like an e-reader. They are still referred under the class e-reader by many. The only thing that was fascinating about those tablets were there screen resolution. They sported a high definition LCD screen with a resolution of 1024x600 for the smaller one and 1366 x 800 for the larger one. These devices couldn’t find very good sales figures and they have canned the devices. The e-reader’s had a lifetime of only about a year.

Sharp has studied and analyzed where they have flawed and is coming up with this new 7 inch media tablet. The device is packed with a lot of features and the hardware spec list is very amazing. The device will run in a Dual core Tegra 2 processor. It is a very bold move by Sharp to integrate a dual core processor in the device. The tablet can be there for used for many CPU intensive tasks. The gadget will have a system memory of about 1GB and will have a storage capacity of 8GB. The screen will be of 7 inch and of LCD type. The display will offer a maximum resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. This is a very high screen resolution for a tablet. The high screen resolution will mean that it will be a pleasure watching movies and playing games in it. Even the smallest of the details could be picked up by the user.

There are two cameras integrated into the device. The main camera is placed in the rear and has a resolution of 5 mega pixels. This high resolution camera will enable you to take snaps on the move and can act as a complete imaging device with all the necessary adjustments to edit the pictures. The secondary camera is kept in the front at the top of the display. It features a resolution of 2 mega pixels. This camera is mainly intended for video conferencing and can also serve the functionality of a camera with which you can take self portraits.

The firmware version in the device is android honey comb version. The tech world is expecting that the honey comb version will be updated to the newest ice-cream sandwich version soon. The quite notable thing in the device is that it will feature WiMax technology. This is only in the introductory stage in the States but are quite popular and used widely in Japan. This technology offers download speed of up to 40MBps which is quite a very high download speed. The tablet will contain Sharp Galapago’s online store application in the tablet and the users can use it to browse through and download from among 40,000 newspapers and books. The tablet is set to be launched in December 9th but the price tag in India is not yet announced.
