The company hopes to further increase sales and has announced that it will be targeting sales of over 5 Lakh units by the end of 2011. This remarkable figure is a sign of confidence from the company and it shows how the brand has found its way from a rich man's closet to the tables of the masses i.e. of course the middle class and lower class people.
There are 4 variants of Sony Vaio models in the Indian market today namely the S,C,E and Y and each one of them are made to suit a different breed of customers. According to Sony India spokesperson, the company has a very good presence in India and is hopeful of achieving the set ambitious targets in 2011 through its existing and proposed 1500 outlets and distribution networks spread across the length and breadth of India. He says that Sony Vaio laptops hold a commanding 20 to 25 % share in the total revenue of Sony India and thus it is the best section to start expansion plans.
The company is promoting the brand with massive campaigns and has romped in Bollywood Sensation Kareena Kapoor to endorse its new campaign which is promoted under the tagline of "More Colour More Style". In total the Sony Vaio brand has 62 models to its credit and the company looks all set to promote the brand by increasing the number of existing outlets to 1500 from the figure of 800 and the company is also planning to add 30 more Vaio Flagship stores to make a sum total of 50 Sony Vaio Flagship stores in India.
