Toshiba Portege Z830 and Lenovo IdeaPad U300S Head To Head Comparison
It's Clash of the Titans this year as Toshiba and Lenovo prepare to go all out, by releasing 2 ultra cool Ultrabooks. Toshiba's Portege Z830 goes up against Lenovo's Ideapad U300s. Lenovo's U series have been very successful lately and it's going to be tough for Toshiba Portege Z830. But the true victor can only be decided by the consumers. Let's see what they got for specifications.

Ultra books are computers but lighter, smaller, and thinner. They have faster boot up than ordinary computers. Both these Ultra books carry similar processors - Intel's Sandy Bridge Ultra Low Voltage Core i3/i7 processors (ULV). When it comes to slimness, The Lenovo U300s reigns not just with a 13.3 inch super slim screen but also because it looks thin but awesome too. While Toshiba offers two varieties of Portege Z830, with slim 13.3 inch screens as well - a consumer model and a business model. But when it comes to looks Lenovo's Ultrabook rules, with U300s being the thinner of the two with 14.9 mms while Z830 is 15.9 mm thin. On the other hand, Z830 is light weight with 2.45 pounds slightly less than 2.91 pound Lenovo U300s.

Toshiba Portege Z830 operates with a ULV Core i3 processor, exclusively for its consumer model as this one is not too pricy. Lenovo Ideapad U300s operates with ULV Core i7 processors with 4MB L3 cache, which makes it fastest among the two and so obviously priced more. Both these Ultrabooks have only Solid State drives (SSD) with the U300s having a 256GB SSD with 10 seconds boot up speed and the Portege Z830 sports only 128 GB SSD, but still has quite fast boot up. The U300s and the Z380 share 720p HD playback feature in similar resolutions of 1366 X 768 pixels with 16:9 aspect ratio. If you want the best looking one out of the two, then choose for yourself according to your tastes.

Toshiba Portege Z830 has a chassis made of Magnesium alloy and has sharp lines and corners giving it a brilliant business look. U300s comes in Clementine Orange (limited) and Graphite Gray colours with an aluminium chassis, glass touchpad's, rounded corners and edges and is quite difficult to keep your eyes off of it. The 4 cell battery in Lenovo Ideapad U300s offers 8 hours continuous usage till the battery goes out of charge and 30 days in standby mode. Toshiba is still improving the battery life of Z830 and is renowned due to their awesome battery efficiency. News from reliable sources claims that Toshiba reportedly is using 8 cell prismatic batteries on the prototypes and things are going well. Most probably, the Z830 will come on top in terms of Battery life and backup.

Sound quality and effects for Toshiba Portege Z830 will be cooler as it owns multimedia enhancement add-ons like Maxx Audio and Resolution plus. Lenovo U300s has SRS Surround sound feature which is comparatively higher in standards with those of Z830. Both of these revolutionary inventions have HDMI ports as well.

Reportedly Ethernet ports are apparently better in Toshiba, from sources. Toshiba Portege Z830 has a price tag of below $1000 lower than Lenovo Ideapad U300s which is priced at around $1200. Prices will be fair when the products come to India.
