Mumbai based budget tech consumer goods manufacturer Wicked Leak has come up with several budget tablets and a phablet in the year 2012. However, recently the company took a giant step with the launch of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based Wammy Desire and Wammy Athena tablets at budget price points of Rs 6,499 and Rs 13,999 respectively.
Hence, as a part of our weekly review, this time, Gizbot has come up with the hands-on review of Wicked Leak Wammy Desire – the 7 inch Jelly Bean tablet offering. Before having a look at the detailed review, first take a look at our benchmark result.
Wammy Desire Benchmark Scores
AnTuTu Test score -- 7438
Quadrant score – 3760
NenaMark 2 – 62.80 fps
Our say, on Wammy Desire benchmark results is that the results are outstanding, as compared to other tablets prevailing in the market in the same price range.
Wammy Desire measuring 343 grams is not very sleek and a little heavy, as compared to the other budget counterparts, however, it looks classy, thanks to its white and silver edges around the black bezel.
At the same time, the tablet is sturdy and handy, for which the full credit goes to its rugged white back. The dot textured back also keep the the tablet from getting scratches, which is quite common in most of the low priced devices in the market.
Further, Wammy Desire houses a 7 inch capacitive 5 point touchscreen display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution with decent touch response. When tested, it faired well in terms of touch, draw, linearity, target and motion events.
Coming to the other controls on the tablet, the left spine has the power button, volume rocker and 3.5mm headphone jack. The right spine houses the power jack/charger port, micro USB port and HDMI port. The microSD card slot for expandable memory support is hard to spot as it is positioned below the power jack on the white colored rear casing along with a flip cover and just above it is the speaker of the tablet.
