Wicked Leak Wammy Desire vs Karbonn Smart Tab 2: Which Budget Jelly Bean Tablet is Best For You?
When it comes to Android Jelly Bean OS, the entire tech world is talking about the Google Nexus 7 – the first tablet to run on the latest incarnation of the Google's OS. However, the Indian market has witnessed a budget tablet – Wammy Desire with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS released by Wicked Leak.
Priced at Rs 6,499, the 7 inch Wammy Desire packs impressive specifications and comes preloaded with several games. Though it will be released into the market on October 14, it can be pre-ordered from the official website of Wicked Leak.
Other domestic vendors including Micromax, Karbonn and more are also working on killer tablets with Jelly Bean OS in order to lure the budget tablet segment of the market.
At the same time, Karbonn has released the Smart Tab 2, which is available for a price of Rs 6,999 based on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. However, in near future, the tablet will receive the Android Jelly Bean roll out.
Both the tablets are equipped with impressive specifications and are priced competitively to survive in the price conscious Indian market. Hence, Gizbot has come up with a comparison of the two tablets to help the users decide on which budget Jelly Bean tablet to buy.
Display: Both Wammy Desire and Smart Tab 2 are 7 inch tablets with capacitive touchscreen display of 800 x 480 pixel resolution.
Processor: In this segment, Wammy Desire scores more as it is equipped with a 1.5GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor as compared to the 1.2 GHz Xburst processor in Smart Tab 2.
Operating System: On the operating system front, Wammy Desire is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS while Smart Tab 2 is flavored with Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, the Smart Tab 2 is upgradeable to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
Camera: When it comes to camera, Smart Tab 2 has a better 2MP front camera while Wammy Desire has a 0.3MP VGA front camera. However, both the tablets lack a main camera with a larger resolution.
Storage: While Wammy Desire has 8GB internal storage and 1GB RAM, on the other hand, Smart Tab 2 has 4 GB internal memory and 512 MB RAM.
However, both the budget tablets have a micro SD card slot, which supports expandable memory of up to 32GB.
Connectivity: In terms of connectivity, Wammy Desire is packed with features including Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G through dongle whereas Smart Tab 2 is packed with connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G through dongle.
Battery: Wammy Desire is loaded with a 3,000 mAh Li-ion battery offering up to 6 hours backup and Smart Tab 2 is powered by a 3,700 mAh Li-ion battery of undisclosed backup.
Price: Being budget Android tablets, Wammy Desire has a price tag of Rs 6,499 and Karbonn Smart Tab 2 is priced at Rs 6,999 respectively.
Verdict
Both Wammy Desire and Smart Tab 2 are priced reasonably and have impressive specifications to grab hold of the budget conscious Indian consumer base.
The major difference between the two is in the operating system segment as the Wammy Desire is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS while Smart Tab 2 awaits its Jelly Bean upgrade.
Apart from this, Wammy Desire comes preloaded with a plethora of features such as Adobe Flash 11.x, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF documents and 3D games including Hero Of Sparta, Nova, Gun Bros, Spiderman and more.
On the other hand, Smart Tab 2 is preloaded with a plethora of features and apps including Games, Nimbuzz, Facebook, SWYPE Feature, Yahoo Search Engine, Google Search Engine, Night Surfing Mode, WhatsApp Messenger, Just Dial Search Engine, Auto Spell Check and Correction Feature, Picasa, MSN, Twitter, Flickr, Yahoo, Google Talk, iBibo, Wikipedia and PayTM.
For consumers who like to have better camera optics, more preloaded features and a better battery, the Karbonn offering should be a good one.
However, those who are looking for a tablet with Android Jelly Bean out of the box and a faster processor, at a relatively lower price tag, can opt for Wammy Desire.
