Apple Watch will replace your car keys and its battery will last a whole day, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said.

Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday made an unannounced visit to the iconic Apple Store in Covent Garden in London. He sat down for an interview with the Telegraph newspaper to discuss the Apple Watch, revealing few more details about the Apple Watch ahead of Apple's much-awaited press event on March 9.

Cook claimed that the watch will have several new features that go beyond health and fitness, such as the ability to replace large car key fobs that are now used by many vehicles, "This will be just like the iPhone: people wanted it and bought for a particular reason, perhaps for browsing, but then found out that they loved it for all sorts of other reasons," he said.

Interestingly, the watch's battery will last a day , and it won't take as long to charge as an iPhone, Apple CEO Tim Cook told the Telegraph in a lengthy interview.

Apple Watch will take advantage of Apple Pay, Cook told the British publication. He even promised that Apple Pay will be ultra-safe.

The Apple Watch will be the company's first truly new hardware release since the death of founder Steve Jobs in 2010, and is likely to decide Apple's future strategy.

Apple has invited media to an event on March 9, where the firm will announce launch plans for its Apple Watch.
