Galaxy S4 Accessories: Samsung Adds S Band, Wireless Charging Pad, Heart Rate Monitor, And More

Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4! The tech media, spectators and consumers are chanting the mantra again and again. Samsung has unwrapped its flagship smartphone for the year in New York City after so much of buzz going all over the industry.

Well, at the event, the South Korean tech giant not only unwrapped the smartphone, but also showcased a range of accessories for the same. These accessories are needed in order to enhance the user experience of Galaxy S4. The accessories shown off at the event include S Band, S View Cover, Game Pad, Wireless Charging Pad, Heart Rate Monitor and Body Scale.

Galaxy S4 Accessories: Samsung Adds S Band, Wireless Charging Pad

Samsung has not disclosed anything about the pricing or specific release dates of both Galaxy S4 and its accessories. However, it has been announced that Galaxy S4 will be released on 327 carriers and in 155 countries by the end of April 2013. Going by the previous launches made by Samsung, the country has always considered India has one of its key regions and hence, it is definite that the company will try to acquire a big share of the market with Galaxy S4's release.

Specwise, Galaxy S4 packs a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a stunning resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 441 ppi, Exynos 5 Octa 5410 processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage, a micro SD card slot supporting up to 64GB expandable storage, 2GB RAM, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, Infrared port and a 2,600 mAh battery.

S Band

S Band is a fitness band that works in tandem with the S Health app on the Galaxy S4. The accessory syncs via Bluetooth to the Galaxy S4 when the user is not carrying smartphon, for instance, while performing sports or while in gym. S Band records steps, calories burned, distance and measures sleep efficiency. It is also claimed by Samsung to be waterproof up to a depth of 10 metres.

Game Pad

Game Pad is a Bluetooth controller for Galaxy S4 and it has a number of buttons including Y, X, B and A buttons as in XBox controller, dual analog sticks, a traditional D-pad and shoulder buttons on the back. According to Samsung, Game Pad fits any smartphone with a screen size between 4 inch to 6.3 inch and has NFC connectivity for quick Bluetooth pairing.

S View Cover

S View Cover for the Galaxy S4 that has a rectangular window at the top and it effectively allows users to quickly glance at notifications like the time, battery level and caller ID information without having to flip open the cover. Further, S View Cover also unlocks and locks the phone when its opened and closed.

Wireless Charging Pad and Cover

The wireless charging pad and cover is an optional accessory for Galaxy S4 that requires a new back cover, as well as a dedicated wireless charger. There are speculations that the handset will support Qi wireless standard, which is used in Google Nexus 4 and Nokia Lumia 920.

Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)

Heart Rate Monitor is a wearable fitness accessory that will work in collaboration with the S Health app in Galaxy S4. As S Band, this accessory also works via Bluetooth even when the user is not having the smartphone.

Body Scale

Body Scale accessory is a Samsung-branded measuring scale that measures weight and sends it to the Galaxy S4 by Bluetooth. It will work with the S Health app and will support up to seven different users simultaneously.

Extra Battery Kit

Extra Battery Kit is an accessory, which will help the users of Galaxy S4 to charge the smartphone when there is no option to charge the handset.

Protective Cover+

Protective Cover+ is one of the accessory shown off at the Galaxy S4 launch event. These colorful protective shields are capable of protecting the back panel of the S4 and hence prevent it from getting scratches due to everyday use.

Pouch

The classic and premium pouch for Galaxy S4 is the traditional pouch that can be used to carry the handset anywhere and anytime.

Flip Cover

The uniquely designed Flip Cover for Galaxy S4 also comes in different attractive color options thereby acting as an additional protection to the display, which is already protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
