Huawei TalkBand B2 vs Apple Watch vs Moto 360: Who Will Win The SmartBand Race?

Huawei has kick-started its premium SEA event in Bangkok today, by unveiling the successor of TalkBand 1. The device is code named as TalkBand B2, which can be used as both fitness band and as a smartwatch and also comes with major improvements over its predecessor.

Here is a comparison of industry's popular and well known smartwatches: Apple Watch and Moto 360.

Operating System and Compatibility

Huawei TalkBand B2 runs on Huawei's proprietary OS based on Android Wear. The TalkBand B2 is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 or later and iOS 7 or later. While Apple Watch uses its own iOS mobile system with a neat and simple UI and can only be paired to limited number of iOS devices including Apple iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Unfortunately, Apple Watch is not compatible with Google Android OS based devices.

The Moto 360 operates using Android Wear, and can be paired with smartphone running on Android 4.3 or higher.

Display and Design

In terms of design, Huawei TalkBand B2 looks much more premium and sophisticated. The TalkBand B2 comes with TPU material strap and also available in luxury genuine leather strap option. The TalkBand B2 comes with 0.73 inch PMOLED touch screen.

Apple Watch comes in two screen size models: 1.49 inches and 1.65 inches. The Apple Watch has a sophisticated design with Digital Crown dial that can be used to navigate. Apple Watch uses a top grade Retina Display with Sapphire glass to protect from scratches. Moreover, it comes in three different models, six finishes and six wristbands.

Moto 360 is the only rounded dial featuring smartwatch that you can buy so far. Moto 360 sports a 1.5-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 290 resolution and it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It has a round dial that maximizes display area.

Battery

The TalkBand B2 is packed with 90mAh battery, which offers 7 hours of talk time, 5 days on average use and 12 days standby-time. Apple Watch's battery can stand up to 18 hours which includes, 90 time checks, 90 notifications, 45 minutes of app use and a 30-minute workout with music playback from Apple Watch via Bluetooth. Moto 360 comes with 320mAh and can be charged wirelessly just by placing it on the dock.

Health and Fitness

The Talkband B2 comes with 6-axis sensor, which detects your activity like walking, running or cycling using your speed and distance travelled and assess the results against goals you have defined in Huawei's companion app. As far as, sensors and connectivity, the Moto 360 offers Bluetooth 4.0, a pedometer, optical heart rate monitor, and ambient light sensor.

On the other hand, Apple Watch could become a great health and fitness oriented device. Apple Healthkit will give a chance to third-party developers to make high quality fitness apps. The Apple Watch does come with a heart rate monitor and workout apps.

Size and Weight

The Huawei TalkBand B2 measures 62mm x 20.6mm and the earpiece weights 9.4g and band weights at 16.8g. Moto 360 sports a rounded dial which measures 46mm (diameter) and weights 49g. While, the Apple Watch comes in two screen size models: (38mm) 1.49 inches and (42mm) 1.65 inches.

Verdict

It is not an easy task to decide which watch is batter than other. All three wearable have their strengths. For Huawei TalkBand B2, its the premium design, ease of use and support for both iOS and Android platform.

Apple Watch is most known as a fashion statement. The wide range and customization of its design and connectivity and sensors. On the other hand, Moto 360 has a beautiful round designed dial and its wireless charging capabilities.
