Apart from the initial introduction to the brand new Android L, the recently held Google I/O also witnessed the coming of new smartwatches like the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch. And needless to say, the devices took everyone by storm.
In fact, from an Indian point of view, the LG G Watch has become the first Android Wear smartwatch to go on sale in India. Priced at Rs 14,999, the watch is currently available on the Google India Play Store.
Launched first at Google's annual developers conference on Wednesday, the G Watch is compatible with a number of Android smartphones. The smartwatch will present information to users just when they need it or even when they say "OK Google" to ask questions related to their query.
The LG Watch is available in two color variants - Black Titan and White Gold. It has been designed to be protected from dust and is water resistant for up to 30 minutes to a depth of one metre.
Apart from that, the device has a 1.65-inch LCD IPS display, 4GB of internal memory and 512MB of RAM. And that's all the required "stat" you need to know about the smartwatch from LG.
But what are the finer things that you need to know about this new smartwatch from LG? What are things worth knowing about it? We take a closer look.
As we mentioned before, the G Watch will be protected from dust and water damage. And this is in tune with Samsung's latest Gear line of wearables that have a IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. This makes them dustproof, and water-resistant at up to one meter (but only for about 30 minutes.)
The LG Watch is available in two color variants - Black Titan and White Gold. In fact, a previous Phandroid report had already claimed that the G Watch will be available in black and "champagne gold" varieties. But more colors are also expected.
The LG-made G Watch has an always-on display. The device shows an on-time notification, and on raising the watch turns it from black and white to full color. Pretty neat, huh?
The LG G Watch runs on the Android Wear platform. The Android Wear, if you don't know by now, is an OS designed specifically for wearables. Android Wear offers specific functionality for notifications, apart from doing the same for fitness tracking.
As we mentioned before, the LG G Watch has become the first Android Wear smartwatch to go on sale in India. Priced at Rs 14,999, the watch is currently available on the Google India Play Store.
