With the biggies like Google, Apple, and Samsung attracting a lot of attention in the wearable arena, the interest in wearable computing is rising faster than ever.The German-based premium brand Montblanc, which is associated with lifestyle products like pen, watches and leather goods is now trying their luck on the wearable segment with its new e-strap.
This e-Strap is used to turn the ordinary watch into smartwatch and its compatible with any of Montblanc's Timewalker Urban Speed range of timepieces.
According to A Blog to Watch, that Montblanc will launch the optional e-Strap separately at EUR 250 (approx Rs. 19,070). Also it is mentioned that, "The e-Strap will come on a few of the new for 2015 Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed watches, but will be available for purchase separately."
Additionally, the blog mentioned, "The e-Strap features a high-end leather strap that has a carbon fiber texture to it that Montblanc calls "Extreme Montblanc Leather" and is produced by them in Florence, Italy. At the bottom, sitting under your wrist is an electronic module made from DLC (diamond like carbon) coated steel or in gray steel. Apparently, there are a few colour and size options."
E-Strap Specifications - What to expect?
The e-Strap will sport a 0.9-inch monochromatic OLED touch screen display with a resolution of 128x36 pixels. Like other smartwatches, it will allow users to check calls, texts, e-mails, calendars, social media, and reminder notifications. This device comes with shock resistant and splash resistant. Moving on to the form factor it measures 40mm long, 14.2mm wide, and 9mm thick.
According to the blog, this device can also act as an activity monitor/tracker with a pedometer and accelerometer and feeds data into iPhone or Android phone via app.
Further,e-Strap will be connected to smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0 and will offer vibration alerts. With one time charge, e-strap can last for five continuous days.
